Welcome to the Stephanie Greenwell Photography Blog

My photo
Serving the Southeast Missouri area including Hayti, Caruthersville, Portageville, and Kennett

Welcome to my blog! I hope you'll stay awhile and get a few laughs at my everyday life. I'm a mother to four great kiddos and married to a stud-muffin. (It makes him feel better!) Life is always what you make it and to tell the truth, I couldn't make it any better than it is. Photography has allowed me capture the lives of my children in a way that I couldn't imagine. And now it's what I love to do. Let me capture your loves, your laughters, your lives.

[Children] Blondies | Portageville Missouri Child Photography

Four true blondes. How times have you seen that at one time???

Meet these little blonde beauties. Mom has her hands full now, but Dad will be in big trouble when they are teens.

When Heather contacted me for a session, I felt a sense of pride. I've known her since high school(read: the crazy days!) and Facebook allowed us to reconnect. And I got to follow her journey as a mother as well. When I found out she was pregnant with twins(and her two oldest were just barely out of diapers), I felt overwhelmed for her. I mean, really, four girls under 4? That just sounds hard.

But I tell ya, watching her interact with her girls, even when the babies got upset, you couldn't tell that it's a hard job. Probably because moms know what it takes to take care of our babies, but also because we have to be the leader, sometimes even the dictator. So, we do what we have to do to make our lives with our children function sanely. And Heather is no exception. She is a rockin' momma to her four darlings.

These girls were simply sweet and loving and so entertaining. The oldest kept me quite entertained, as she was the supermodel of the crew and ready to strike a pose at any given moment. Heather, thank you for choosing me to capture your four non-NON-blondes. It was nice to catch up, if even for only a few moments, since motherhood has now consumed our lives.

Wonderfully consumed, might I add.

[Babies] Pure Sweetness | Hayti Missouri Baby Photographer

She's a beauty. Plain and simple. And since she is only two weeks older than my beautiful baby boy, I'm already plotting an arranged marriage between the two. Dowry and all.

Oh, there I go again, planning my children's lives. Slap my hand right now!

Seriously, she was an absolute dream to photograph. She is just a go-with-the-flow type of gal and she let me (and mom) pose her in that pretty little pettiskirt. And let's not even mention those beautiful eyes, so very striking.

And even Mom got in on the session. Let me just say, most moms are behind the lens taking pictures of their children. I try to encourage moms at my sessions to join in on the fun, even if they never look at the camera.

Every mom needs images of her and her children interacting.

They grow up so fast and before you know it, you have thousands of images and pictures of your kids, but Mom is rarely in them. And this session is just my perfect example of capturing the emotion between mother and child. It's a priceless commodity and one you'll never regret.

Mom and baby S, I just adored your session and the images that were produced. She is such an adorable baby, exuding with pure sweetness. Thank you for choosing me to capture a very special time in your lives.

[Sneak Peek] Hayti Missouri Baby Photographer

Although I have a 7 month old, getting to hold this little 3 month old gave me a little, umm, baby itch. Babies are my happy drug.

[Babies] Mollie Claire | Caruthersville Missouri Baby Photographer

This baby girl was one happy baby when I walked into her home. Beautiful smile, happy demeanor, you name it. And she was pretty as a peach.

Mom really wanted to get some images with her beautiful Christening dress before she outgrew it and as I mentioned in the sneak peek, I really loved how the traditional mixed with the old in the barnwood floor.

After a while, Mollie Claire got tired of the fuss we were making over her, as she was ready for a nap, so I captured some of the sweetest sleeping images of her. Mom later told me that she was really pooped because she slept for 3 hours! (I was a little tired too because I had another shoot earlier that day, but it was great!)

Thanks for opening your home to me today and for accomodating my "find-the-light" request! Mollie Claire was a doll and I hope we'll work together in the future. Enjoy your images!

[Babies] Baby Will | Kennett Missouri Baby Photographer

This past weekend I got to have a session with this 3 month old, who happens to share the same birthday as my 3 month old. That day, of course, was the day God decided to send two good-lookin' little fellas to this Earth. (I'm sure his momma will agree with me!)

Baby Will started out a little fussy, but after a little down time and rest, he was a champ. All pimped out in a basket. And lookin' fly. If you know his mother, you'll notice that her baby boy has the exact same pouty lips that she has! It's uncanny!

We had a nice time and I certainly felt the love for this little guy. There's no doubt he's his momma's baby, but more importantly, he's his gramma's baby. Thanks so much for allowing me to document this special time in his life and I look forward to more sessions in the future!

[Sneak Peek] Baby Girl | Caruthersville Missouri Baby Photographer

I had not one, but two sessions yesterday with babies. If I didn't already have a baby of my own, I might have gotten baby fever! Here's sneak peek #2 of the day of one of the sweetest little baby girls ever! Mom wanted to get a shot of her in her beautiful Christening dress, and I just loved this image with the mix of traditional with the beautiful old barnwood floor. Every one have great Superbowl Sunday! God bless!

[Sneak Peek] Baby Boy | Kennett Missouri Baby Photographer

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Up for your viewing pleasure is a sweet baby boy, born on the same day as my baby boy. He was a little tired for his shoot, but he got it worked out after a nice nap! Aww, babies. They certainly have their own schedule. I just wanted to post a quick sneak peek for mom and grandparents. Have a great day!

And Where Does Time Go Exactly?? | Hayti Missouri Photographer

Today, my baby boy is 11 weeks old! 11 friggin' weeks! Can anyone tell where time goes? Because from my records, those last 11 weeks of my pregnancy moved at a turtle's pace. On this side of the pregnancy, time has kicked up to super-high speed!! So, can anyone tell me, where does time go exactly? Depressing, I tell ya. Pass the Prozac, please.

John Cooper is a growing boy, no doubt, and he looks older than 11 weeks. But that's expected when the kid was born the size of a small car! Just kidding, kiddo. At his two month check-up, he weighed 14 lbs. 6 oz and was 23 in. long. In medical terms, he's in the 99th percentile!! That's how my little Michelin man rolls...literally. Rolls and rolls of fat everywehere!

(On a sidenote: The kid sleeps like a dream! Like, up to 8 hours each night! I know, I'm so lucky. And no, I'm not giving him a sedative.)

So, John Cooper and I had an impromptu shoot this past Saturday. I tried to get him to sleep so I could get those sleepy images so desired in the beginning of their lives. It took a while and it ended up working to my advantage because the light coming through was stunning.

So here's to you my chub-a-lub. You beautiful, sweet chub-a-lub. How I love thee!

[Family] The Henfling's | Dyersburg Tennessee Children's Photographer

Liz talked with me about getting some images of her new precious addition, Knox Walker(dontcha love the name?). She has two other boys, Jackson and Riley, and it was quite evident at our shoot that they are in luuuurve with their new baby brother. How sweet is was to get them all together for pictures! Like I mentioned in my previous post, there's something so special about the bond between mother and son. And in this case, the bonds between mother and sons.

Liz's boys are sweet and handsome and polite. I know they will grow to be the same way and make some girls very happy wives someday. (I think Liz just had a heart attack to think of her boys growing up!) They are also very sweet on their Nan, Liz's mother, whom she brought along for ride. Oh Nan, er, Mrs. Gardner, how you ever put up with all of the kids at your house, I'll never know, but you were always so patient even when we were holy terrors, up all night watching Def Comedy Jam and scary movies and laughing and prank calling every one. Except me. I always feel asleep early. Darn narcolepsy.

Liz, I'm so glad that you wanted me to photograph your sweet boys. I think you look fabulous as you always have and you have a beautiful family of which you should be very proud. And I'm glad we got to have a few laughs. Oh, how I miss your everyday witty humor.

And thanks for the awesome bibs and wipey case. Much love Hooch.

[Babies] Brody | Portageville Missouri Baby Photographer

I told my best friend, Tara, when she found out she was having a boy, that there's nothing like the bond between mother and son. Sure, I'm very tight with my girls and Tara is with her daughter also, but there's a special something with mommas and their sons.

So, one day a few months after Brody was born, Tara came over with him. We sat there talking about him, and she said, "I know what you mean about you and Brennan; I feel it with Brody." I smiled. And my heart did the same.

Brody turned a year old last weekend and I find it hard to believe that it's already been a year. We decided to shoot a fun session in the leaves in my neighbor's yard, since all but a few of our trees were lost in the ice storm earlier this year. Brody's big sis Reed was a super-duper helper by carrying and entertaining him. And thanks to Tara's mom for keeping my baby boy while we had fun in the leaves.

Happy 1st Birthday, Brody! Much love to you!
