Merry Christmas from my family

I had the great pleasure of photographing my own children this year for our Christmas cards. I have long had the idea of shooting at the old red schoolhouse that is now located on the square, so I decided that this would be make a great place for pictures. I always loved seeing that school when I was a kid when it was located on the property where they have now built my children's elementary school. It was built in the early 1800s. Very cool place for pics.

Although it was a mild day compared to the freezing cold temps we have been having, it was still a tad bit chilly for them, especially my girls who have short sleeves Christmas outfits this year. (Go figure, style over substance!) I have a ton of photos from this shoot, and I've continually uploaded new pics. Simple photos, yet they say a lot. They are some kind of cute! Merry Christmas and may your family have a blessed year in 2009!

Christmas Pics for Millers & Hinklins

What a treat it was for me to photograph not one, not two, but THREE little ones at the same time! Talk about getting a workout! These little cuties were fun to photograph even though little one wasn't in the holiday spirit of getting his picture taken (ahem, he actually just woke up from a catnap, I wouldn't be too spry myself!)

Even though the grandparents, mommas and well, the daddies didn't care, I managed to squeeze a cute moment of their break from "Jump, Emma, Jump, Jump!" on the couch. These kinds of pictures are priceless in that we'll always remember that the couch did the trick--what kid doesn't love to jump on a couch, a bed, anything with a spring that they could jump off of and bust their head wide open? I enjoyed taking pictures of them...it was certainly entertaining!

He's my best friend's boy

This is the son of my best friend Tara. He is two weeks old and yesterday I snapped some pics for her. He was so sweet and slept most of time. I was rewarded with getting to feed his hungry little self. His sister has been very excited about having a little bro. Congrats Tara & Jarrett!

Christmas Pics for Shea

These boys are a hoot, let me tell ya! It was *FREEZING* to calcium-deficient bones. But they were good sports, and you can tell they are brothers! They were totally cool about pics today, but I think the cat(will post picture later) really enjoyed his camera time for the most part. I couldn't ask for better smiles!

I have some of the coolest, entertaining, and certainly most rambunctious set of kids a mom has ever had! They have an energy that is non-stop, but once it stops, they are done. I just wanted to include some pics of my babies and to let them know that I love them so very much, even when my motor is dying and theirs is revved-up!!

Happy 7th Birthday!

So, Saturday was my big girl's 7th birthday! Boy, time sure does fly! We hosted a movie-and-pizza party at our home this year. With the economic crunch and the cold weather, it just made since to keep it low-key this year. It's hard to be low-key with 15 kids running around the house and starving for pizza!! We had a great time and we are thankful for those who attended and made the day special for Haley. So this is my shout-out to her...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEETIE!!

Pumpkin Patch Pals

A few weeks ago, I went with my son's pre-k class to Begg's Family Farm. We had a great time and it was such an awesome day. Not too hot, not too cold, just overcast enough to keep the temps just right (and the natural light was awesome too). I was in charge of two kids, Lee and Ajaesia, along with my son. There was so much to do: We rode to the actual pumpkin patch in a cotton trailer and te kids got to pick out a pumpkin to take home. Then we got to feed the various animals. And boy, oh boy, were they tired after the day at Begg's. Below are some of the pics from that day.

Homecoming 2008

This little girl and little boy were the Homecoming Crown Bearers. Her parents asked me to photograph their sweet little girl and this has to be one of my fave pics. Aren't their outfits so cute?

Why Choose Custom Photography

Custom photography is more of a luxury than your entry level cookie cutter chain experience. Custom photography truly is not for everyone, it requires a level of commitment, investment in time and money, forethought and planning on the part of the subject/client and requires a larger time commitment for the photographer as well.

Clients who enjoy taking a more active role in the creation of their families’ memories have the desire to have portrait art that is truly personalized. These more discerning clients have been known to budget and allot time for a custom photography session. Many clients opt for it to be a once a year special experience, some opt to have custom photography sessions done to record their child’s stages in life. Having said this, it is clear that custom photography is not in everyone’s budget, it is something that most families save for to splurge on from time to time to memorialize their children as they really are (not posed and primped in the cookie cutter studio setting).

There is a great deal of time involved in creating high end custom photography sessions for a client. The luxury of great service, better choices and a supberb end product. The result of all this are heirloom quality images. The time invested at the session is only a small portion of the time involved. Custom photography has been likened to purchasing a fine vehicle. To get to point B from A, let’s face it, even a bus ride would suffice. If you want to luxuriate in a finely appointed vehicle, customizing your own experience by listening to smooth jazz while sitting in a climate-controlled setting adjusted purely for your comfort in a body hugging leather interior, perhaps that Lexus you so desire is your cup of tea.

Custom photography is much the same cup of tea. It is the Lexus of the photography world. It is where the intangibles make the experience truly wonderful and the images themselves make the investment of money and time truly worthwhile.

Custom photography can be broken down into even more levels. There are on-location, studio, mixed studio/on-location, specialty location, and destination type photographers. The beauty of custom photography is in the choices and in the luxury of thoses options. The customized service level you are sure to experience will be amazing. The knowledge that your final images are the result of someone caring about those moments so much that they take extra time ensuring that the artwork you receive is good enough to stand by with their name on it. That level of quality and commitment is all but lost in the age of "mass-produced," "mass-marketed," corporate "everyone is a number". Custom photography is based on being unique to you. How great an experience would be, to be able to sit back and allow a photographer to do this highly custom work for images that you will most likely cherish for a lifetime?

Keep in mind more than anything that the Lexus will never appreciate in value the way your portraits will. The portrait art you become invested in from your custom photographer will no doubt increase in value and become more priceless as the years pass.

About Me | Stephanie Greenwell Photography Hayti Caruthersville Missouri

Married. Mother. Multi-tasker. These describe me to the core.

However, this blog is mostly about my foray into photography and a little about the adventures in my crazy life. Eventually, I will have a fancy parking space for my website, so until then, I'm parkin' it here on the curb, er, blog.

This blog will show my work, but also my friggin' hilarious side and some personal snippets of my life. And hey, feel free to check out my posts, give me a shout-out, or just say hi. I'd love to hear from you! (But please don't be rude. That's just not cool.)

So, to give you little of the 411 on me:

I love my family, my children rock my world!

I heart sweets, especially pastries, which means I have to add some extra minutes to the elliptical machine!

My personality is quite strong and I'm very opinionated--if you don't want to know the truth, don't ask! [But I do use discretion!]

I'm a very creative person, and have a need to fuel my outlet. Jewelry, crafts, photography, whatever.

Sarcasm is my best friend. Really.

I love babies, must be why I'm preggo again! :) (Due 10/31/09)

I don't like the person I used to be::I'm far happier as an adult, and I take no medication!!!

I have narcolepsy...Yes, that narcolepsy(a.k.a. "Deuce Bigalow"[the bowling scene]). But it's controlled, so don't freak out when you see me on the road.

I love make-up, and my baby girl Aubrey is following in my footsteps. God help us!

Watch movies? Don't have time to sit for two hours. Unless it's on DVR.

I have some awesome friends, who love Christ and make me want to be a better person, even if I'm not.

I looooove Facebook! You can find almost anyone; now, if I could only find my bio father!!!

I love all types of music. I listen to whatever my mood is.

I feel like a big kid at heart. Hopefully, that means I'll live a long life.

I am a self-proclaimed computer geek! By day, I write software and applications, and I love learning anything new on the computer! (That's the geek in me!)

I am unapologetically fierce about my family and my friends. I'll always have their back!

Contemporary Christian music? My new fave genre! Just went to a Chris Tomlin concert and it totally rocked and uplifted!!

I get cranky from time to time, nobody's perfect!

I love the smell of Apple Cinnamon candles, air freshener, gum, etc.

I love date night with my husband--we always have the greatest conversations on those nights!

I have a serious bad habit of chewing the inside of my jaws. I don't know why either.

My other bad habit is speaking before thinking. My foot has been inserted-into-mouth on a number of occasions!

I'm perfectly happy with my life.

I enjoy meeting new people, but I have a 6th sense about people when they're shady. I once met a dude that was staying with a neighbor in my apt. complex, and I just didn't feel right around him. Turns out he was wanted in N. Carolina.

I believe Gerard Butler (300, P.S. I Love You) is the hottest thing since melted butter. More than Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and whoever else there is.

I make the best darn omelets that ever crossed one's mouth. And homemade spaghetti sauce. And boiled water. (I really can cook).

I loooove to read, but rarely find the time anymore. Shampoo bottles and short magazine articles work in a pinch.

A Note to Clients | Stephanie Greenwell Photography Hayti Caruthersville Missouri

Capturing true emotion in images is the essence of my style of photography, known as lifestyle photography. No coaching for the camera is required! Just be real.

I like to shoot in urban locations using natural light. We may go to parks, old buildings, fields, or your home, wherever creativity may strike. Just prepared for (almost) anything!

I want my clients, even the little ones, to feel comfortable with me and my camera, so please dress comfortably. For children, bright colors will greatly enhance the images and reflects the true spirit of childhood. So whether it be dress-up clothes, hats and scarves, swimsuits, or just their everyday wardrobe, the more colorful, the better.

Seniors can also wear colorful clothes, but anything that reflects their sense of style is appropriate.

Custom photography is catered to your desires in terms of time, setting and wardrobe. I spend a great deal of time in post-production editing each image by hand in order to provide you with beautiful, timeless custom photography. Prices reflect the time I put forth to create professionally edited images for you and your family to enjoy for a lifetime.
