Welcome to the Stephanie Greenwell Photography Blog

My photo
Serving the Southeast Missouri area including Hayti, Caruthersville, Portageville, and Kennett

Welcome to my blog! I hope you'll stay awhile and get a few laughs at my everyday life. I'm a mother to four great kiddos and married to a stud-muffin. (It makes him feel better!) Life is always what you make it and to tell the truth, I couldn't make it any better than it is. Photography has allowed me capture the lives of my children in a way that I couldn't imagine. And now it's what I love to do. Let me capture your loves, your laughters, your lives.

{Senior} Cameron | Hayti Missouri Senior Photographer

I'd like to think that I'm still hip to the younger generation, but most days, I know I'm not. However, after chatting up Cameron, I think he may have thought I was cool. I'm sure it was the Tupac comment I made after he told me he liked country and rap music. Yes, I admittedly knew me some Tupac back in the day(along with some other unsavory rap groups, but that was another time!)

Cameron is the typical cooler-than-ice senior guy. Piercing eyes, solemn stare, but with my comical genius and suave dance moves, I cracked a few smiles from him and I know Mom will be happy with that. I'm shameless, no doubt.

Cameron brought his new lifted Chevy and he borrowed on old shiny blue Chevy to incorporate into his session. And he also had his little 3 year old brother join him in a couple of shots and they are too sweet!

Other than me wearing my heels to a shoot(never again!), I had a great time today. Fun, laid back, me showing my awesome dance skills on a ladder. Yep, that's more like the reason my feet hurt so bad that night!

Cameron, congratulations on your achievement and best wishes for your future! On a final note, keep ya head up...

{Sneak Peek} Senior | Portagville Missouri Senior Photographer

Yesterday was a beautiful day, albeit chilly, but the sun was shining, and it was a reprieve from the cold, dreary days we've been having. This senior braved those chilly winds and we had an awesome time. Here's a quick peek into her session. More to come later!

Get your Free on | Hayti Missouri | Stephanie Greenwell Photography

It’s contest time again! Can I get a “whoop, whoop”? *fists pumping in the air*

I’m so excited to announce another contest because you all are the reason why my business is growing. And can I just say that I feel so very blessed? I am. And thank you.

In honor of hitting 700 fans on my Facebook fan page, I’d like to offer a couple print credits to be used when you book your session in 2010. And hey, this is open to anyone who has already booked their session for 2010, and session will take place after contest ends.

Here’s what you need to do: Leave a comment in this specific blog post about your favorite picture. It can be of your kids, your significant other, your dog, your house, a bug in a bush, heck, it could be a blurry picture that you have no idea what it is, but you just love it. Make sure you’ll be able to share that image with me if you are the winner(I want the evidence!).

But it gets even better.

You have a second chance to win if you comment on the actual announcement about the contest on my Facebook fan page(and you have to be a fan). Same thing, tell me about your favorite picture. And try to keep it clean. But dirty trucks and messy faces are fine.

The winner will be selected at random using a Random calculator and the results will be posted, along with the winners. Each winner will receive (1) $100 print credit to be applied to their print order. That's $100 in free prints! (And for even greater savings, I'm currently offering 30% off Custom Art Collections for a limited time!)

The contest will end on Sunday, February 28, 2010, 3:00 p.m. CMT.

And I know rules are made to be broken, but not these rules:

1) Only one entry per person/family only per chance. For instance, Sally can post one time to this blog post and one time to Facebook, thus giving her two chances to win. I don't want to have to disqualify anyone, so please don't make me do it.

2) Only one person/family can win once. Sally can't win both chances.

3) Print credit applies to Custom Art Collections only.

4) Print credit is non-transferable. Sally can't win and give to her friend. But I hope Sally will tell her friend to enter.

5) Print credit cannot be applied to session fee or session deposit.

6) Session must be booked for 2010, as print credit expires December 31, 2010.

7) Have fun and be nice!

So, wipe the slobber from your chin, click on "Comments" below, and tell me your favorite picture. Then head on over to my Facebook fan page, and post on the Official Fan Page Contest announcement. And make sure to fan me, if you're not already a fan! The contest will end on Sunday, February 28, 2010, 3:00 p.m. CMT, so you better get crackin'!

In front | Stephanie Greenwell Photography

Being a person who photographs other people, it's very uncommon to find myself in front of the camera. Mostly because no one in my house knows how to operate the dang thing, but also because I'm protective of my camera. I know, I know.

It's just a camera.

I mean my life doesn't revolve around this inanimate object, at least that's what I tell myself. But frankly, I do have a tight relationship with my camera. Even though I intend to upgrade this year(I hope), I feel like me and ol' Camera have a history.

And we are thick as thieves.

It's captured sweet moments of my children, the birth of my latest child, programs and plays, Mother Nature at her finest, and even helped me launch a so far successful small business. But don't get me wrong, if it were destroyed, my life would go on. Albeit, I'd be sad, but I know it can be replaced.

I'm just not ready to invest in another relationship yet.

So, since I'm always behind the camera and I have absolutely no images of me and my newest baby together (because, c'mon, that big heavy sucker is not as easy to turn around one-handed and snap those two-person shots with part of an arm in view!), I decided to let my 8 year old daughter take some pictures of me and John Cooper together. In my style.

With the settings already in place for her, neck strap around her neck, I just played with John Cooper and had her snap away. She was so very excited to get to do this. (Fortunately, Aubrey and Brennan were in the other room, or else that neck strap would have been ripped in two over who gets to hold the camera!)

The following is one of the images she got. I edited the image to my liking, and I will forever cherish this sweet reminder of my love of being a mom. One child photographing mom and another child together.

And Haley thinks she wants to be a photographer when she grows up.

Thankyouverymuch.

[Senior] Hannah | Hayti Deering Missouri Senior Photographer

I love senior sessions! Seniors are so stylish and hip and cool. Words that don't describe me these days. I'm more like "momma", "tired", and "stylish-to-the-degree-that-it-just-has-to-fit". And sometimes I'm cool, but my kids might think otherwise.

So Hannah is my first senior session of 2010 and she totally hit it out of the park. It was a cold day, but at least it wasn't windy and/or snowing! Bless her heart, I could just see the chill bumps on her skin, but she was a trooper and I'm very happy with the end result. I got to try to a few ideas and even implement my new find: a $4 chair from an antique shop! Oh, I heart the antique store! And Hannah was just the perfect subject to use with it.

Her mom is always quite the laugh-maker, so we hee-hawed throughout the whole session. We had a blast and I can't wait for our spring session! Thanks for the laughs, Mom, and for bringing out some beautiful smiles from your beautiful girl!

And, Dad, I got permission to dress and pose your baby girl! I hope you all enjoy!

[Babies] Mollie Claire | Caruthersville Missouri Baby Photographer

This baby girl was one happy baby when I walked into her home. Beautiful smile, happy demeanor, you name it. And she was pretty as a peach.

Mom really wanted to get some images with her beautiful Christening dress before she outgrew it and as I mentioned in the sneak peek, I really loved how the traditional mixed with the old in the barnwood floor.

After a while, Mollie Claire got tired of the fuss we were making over her, as she was ready for a nap, so I captured some of the sweetest sleeping images of her. Mom later told me that she was really pooped because she slept for 3 hours! (I was a little tired too because I had another shoot earlier that day, but it was great!)

Thanks for opening your home to me today and for accomodating my "find-the-light" request! Mollie Claire was a doll and I hope we'll work together in the future. Enjoy your images!

[Babies] Baby Will | Kennett Missouri Baby Photographer

This past weekend I got to have a session with this 3 month old, who happens to share the same birthday as my 3 month old. That day, of course, was the day God decided to send two good-lookin' little fellas to this Earth. (I'm sure his momma will agree with me!)

Baby Will started out a little fussy, but after a little down time and rest, he was a champ. All pimped out in a basket. And lookin' fly. If you know his mother, you'll notice that her baby boy has the exact same pouty lips that she has! It's uncanny!

We had a nice time and I certainly felt the love for this little guy. There's no doubt he's his momma's baby, but more importantly, he's his gramma's baby. Thanks so much for allowing me to document this special time in his life and I look forward to more sessions in the future!

[Sneak Peek] Baby Girl | Caruthersville Missouri Baby Photographer

I had not one, but two sessions yesterday with babies. If I didn't already have a baby of my own, I might have gotten baby fever! Here's sneak peek #2 of the day of one of the sweetest little baby girls ever! Mom wanted to get a shot of her in her beautiful Christening dress, and I just loved this image with the mix of traditional with the beautiful old barnwood floor. Every one have great Superbowl Sunday! God bless!

[Sneak Peek] Baby Boy | Kennett Missouri Baby Photographer

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! Up for your viewing pleasure is a sweet baby boy, born on the same day as my baby boy. He was a little tired for his shoot, but he got it worked out after a nice nap! Aww, babies. They certainly have their own schedule. I just wanted to post a quick sneak peek for mom and grandparents. Have a great day!

Slackers Anonymous | Hayti Missouri Photographer

I've been so bad. Remember when I said I would be blogging more in 2010? Yeah, that time and that other time. Uh-huh, I totally fell flat on that 2010 resolution. To tell the truth, I really thought I would get with the program, but it's really hard to do.

You see, going back to work and familiarizing ourselves with the new addition in the house and my other kids and school and cooking and breastfeeding and editing and laundry(oops, the hubs does most of that!) and giving baths and, oh yeah, let's not forget, Facebooking and scheduling 2010 sessions and wiping my hiney...you catch my drift, right?

Add blogging to the mix and well it makes for a recipe of complete madness and chaos. Oh and I forgot to mention, dieting, which is in its own world of craziness. Except the only thing dieting has done for me is give me the will power to get off the couch and grab a couple of cookies. Dang diets.

And while on I'm the subject of dieting, all of you new mommies-to-be who are planning on breastfeeding because, "like, I will totally lose weight if I breastfeed!", well, I will tell you this: Don't go to Vegas with those kinds of odds. You'll be ravenous. You'll eat more. Heck, you might even look at your baby's fat legs and think about how tasty they are. But then you'll remember that you're not a cannibal. At least, that was my case. You may in fact be one. To each his own, I say.

Anyways, while I'm uploading some images to my lab, I thought I'd take a moment and reintroduce myself to you.

Hi, my name is Stephanie Greenwell. I'm a die-hard fat momma, I love sweets, my husband, and a good episode of "The Big Bang Theory" (and countless others). I'm a computer geek, a forever-student of photography, a Fox news junkie, and a child of God. I'm passionate about my beliefs(and if you don't want to hear it, don't engage me!) I crack up at myself all the time, I don't get jokes and I'm not afraid to admit it. I'm a slacker-blogger, but if you elect me for office in 2010, I promise I will blog more and be the best dang blogger-er on my street. But most of all, I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't throw tomatoes, real or virtual, at me for trying to be funny.

Lately, I've been trying to get things in order(see above madness), and I hope and will try to blog more. I'm starting to book my 2010 sessions, so of course, I'll be posting "Sneak Peeks" and sessions I've photographed. So come back from time to time, sit down and enjoy a couple of cookies with me.

Oh, did you say you wanted to see another image of my new baby boy? I can certainly oblige. He's now three months old and just adorable as can be. Don't be j.
